Astrogem processing: process, view other items or reset

Each attempt in the Astrogem Processing window offers four changes and applies one of them at random, each with the same chance. The window shows the attempts and View Other Items you have left, but never the chance that a choice ends with the values your core needs. The Astrogem Processing odds calculator gives that chance for every choice the window allows: process, View Other Items, the Astrogem Processing Option Refresh Ticket, Processing Complete and a reset with the Astrogem Processing Reset Ticket. In a core, an Astrogem takes its default willpower minus its Willpower Efficiency, and its Core Points count toward the core's thresholds, so these two values decide whether the gem fits the core you are building.

Enter the gem as the window shows it

Open the calculator from the Astrogem's own page, or pick it from the list. Set its Willpower Efficiency, Core Points and the levels of its two effects, then the attempts and View Other Items left, whether the Option Refresh Ticket and the reset are still available, and the Processing Cost change. Pick the four offered changes. For the target, either type the Willpower Efficiency and Core Points you want, or choose your core, the Core Points to reach and what your other Astrogems in that core already give, and the page works out what this gem needs. The address carries everything, so the link reproduces the same decision.

A worked case

Your Order Astrogem: Stability has Willpower Efficiency 4, Core Points 4, Attack Power Lv. 5 and Ally Damage Enhancement Effect Lv. 4. Two attempts are left, one View Other Items remains, the Option Refresh Ticket is unused and the gem was already reset. You want Willpower Efficiency 5 and Core Points 5. The window offers Willpower Efficiency +1, Order Points +1, Attack Power Effect Changed and View Other Items +1 time.

• Process: 12.42%. Two of the four changes help, each with a 1 in 4 chance, and each still needs the other one on the last attempt.
• View Other Items: 8.79%. A new set of four may not hold both useful changes again.
• Option Refresh Ticket: 8.79%. It redraws the four changes in the same way.
• Processing Complete: 0%. The gem stops below the target.

Processing now is the best choice here. Each chance assumes you keep choosing the best option after this one, with the attempts, View Other Items and tickets you have left.

What the calculator does not do

It compares choices; it does not process the gem or spend anything. After the game applies a change, mark that change as applied, or enter the new values, and read the next decision. It looks only at Willpower Efficiency and Core Points; which effects you get and the gold a choice costs are yours to weigh. When a processed gem is finished, send it to the Ark Grid Astrogem placement to see which core it fits.
